League of Legends Ping Test

Ping is the time, in milliseconds, a signal takes to travel from your machine to the game server and back. In League of Legends, 20-60 ms is excellent, up to 100 ms stays playable, and beyond that every dodge shows the delay. This test measures your real latency to each server region, with nothing to install.

Method: several timed HTTP round-trips to network points in each server zone, median kept. Details on the methodology page.

How to read your results

PingVerdictIn practice
< 40 msExcellentIndistinguishable from LAN play, no mechanical ceiling.
40–80 msVery goodComfortable for ranked, including on demanding champions.
80–120 msFairPlayable, but tight dodges and contested smites suffer.
> 120 msProblematicVisible delay on every action: fix it before playing ranked.

High ping: the causes, in order of likelihood

Nine times out of ten, abnormal ping comes from your local network: unstable Wi-Fi, a background download, or a router saturated by other devices in the household. Next comes distance to the server — play on the region closest to you. Finally, and more rarely, ISP congestion at peak hours. Our guide on lowering your ping in LoL walks through the diagnosis step by step and the fixes that actually work.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good ping for LoL?

Between 20 and 60 ms the game responds near-instantly: ideal for ranked. Up to 100 ms stays comfortable. Above 100 ms, delays show on dodges and combos; above 150 ms they cost games.

Does this test match my in-game ping?

It measures your connection's latency to network points located in the same zones as Riot's game servers. Results track your in-game ping closely (typical gap of 5-15 ms) — enough to know whether your connection is ready before you queue.

Why does my ping spike mid-game?

The three most common causes: another app is eating bandwidth (streaming, downloads, updates), your Wi-Fi is suffering interference, or your ISP is congested at peak hours. Test on Ethernet and close bandwidth-heavy apps to isolate the cause.

Which server should I play on?

The one closest to you geographically. From western Europe that means EUW, where 15-40 ms is normal on fiber. Every region hop adds 30-150 ms you cannot optimize away.
